Chapter three

Chapter three - pain

the very last thing i remember that night was saying to laurel that we had to walk home then... blank, cold darkness. it was creeping over me with such a force i couldnt fight with it, so i let it wash over me. it was like a dark heavy sea that i was sinking deeper and deeper into. i tried opening my eyes with my best effort. it was hard work but in as long as would seem an eternity i could open them into slits, but it hurt..real bad. a heavy pain shot up the left side of my head. a bright beam of light over my head made me close my eyes tight again. now i had risen from the surface of the darkness. i could hear a loud beeping to my right. it was going at an even pace and it was starting to annoy me.. where was i? when did i come home? my head filled so heavy with questions that i frowned, yet again that hurt but on a much more worse scale. i tried to lift my left arm to feel my face but at that point i realized that i couldnt pick it up? what? it hovered a little. then fell again - which i stopped doing as it felt like someone was drilling through my arm-. "doctor, do you think shes awake yet?" i heard someone talking, was it laurel?
"oh yes, could'nt you see her moving her arms? though she had quite a fall.. plus we dont know the reasons for it..." the man trailed of, did i hear laurel call him doctor? when did i fall?what happened?
i tested moving my mouth, it seemed fine.
"L.." it came out croaked, it didnt sound like me,
"Laurel..where?...when?what..?" i had so many questions to ask,
"we where walking down those big steps, you know? the ones near our houses? well you just...collapsed? the doctor said he didnt know why, they didnt find anything wrong with you but you broke your arm and hurt your head and knee plus sprained your foot.." laurel said, shocking me.
"wh-what!?" i croaked, "how?"
"Miss Newal, you quite shocked us, we cant find a reason for you to have collapsed, we found nothing in your system.. no drugs, nor too much alcohol.. its quite strange because usually theres a reason, because you where as fit as a fiidle before the fall..." the doctor said,
"well then how, can it normally just be random?" i asked, my speech not so bad now.
"not usually but sometimes yes, but i cant really confirm it."
"how long have i been here for?" i asked,
"about three hours approx," laurel said, looking at her watch.
"wow.. so its... probably one am?" i asked
"indeed so." the doctor said.
a nurse walked in and pushed up my pillows so i could sit up and i tested myself and tried to move, true, my knee hurt.. i looked down at my arm, it was in a cast. my ankle had a bandage wrapped around it as well as my knee.
"could i got to the bathroom, i asked, "i think i feel okay." i asked,
"i'll go with you," laurel said. she pulled a wheelchair out from the hall and brought it in. the doctor manuvered me into it. i think laurel knew that i didnt actually need to the loo but to get out of this bed for a minute.. - most likely why she didnt lift me crutches-
laurel spun me around and brought me out of the room,
"is anyone else here? i asked,
"tom is getting a drink with mum and dad, sam and sam just left and rosie is outside getting air, plus know one else knows." laurel said, -and yes, when she said mum and dad she ment mine-
"im not even going to ask if dave and mason came," i said, suppressing a sigh,
"actually.. you'd be suprised, they came.."
"your being serious>?"
"yeah, they came and left after one minute, they dont like hospitals," laurel sighed.
"hmph."
we had reached the toilets and laurel swung the door open and we went in,
"yeah, i need to go to the toilet, you be okay waiting?"
laurel asked, (told you she knew i didnt need to go!)
"yeah."
i rolled over with one arm to the mirror.
wow. shock. my face was covered in bandages, i let out a quiet gasp. for some reason i felt like unravelling the peice on my forehead to see what was underneath it.
WOAH! i must have hit my head pretty bad! i had a strange looking scar on my head, if you looked at it for long.. it looked a bit like a dogs head, no.. thats wrong, a wolves head.
"that scar looks pretty bad, it scarred quick? shouldnt it have been in stiches? no wait.. its not that deep.. it looks like an imprint of something" laurel said whilst walking out of the cubical, squinting in the bright light.
"yeah.. i guess it does," i said. i decided i would just wrap it up again, it'll go away some day..
when we got back to my room my mum and dad where there,
"oh! you okay? do you want anything?" my mum was franicly rushing around the room,
"no.. im fine.." i decided not to tell them about the scar.
"you sure, i mean you sould ge back into bed! you might catch a cold!"
"im okay, seriously."
my mum calmed down then and the doctor spoke,
"you can go home now but if anything occours do not hesitate and come here straight away!" the doctor said.

my dad had started packing my stuff away and all my get well soon gifts got stuck into the trunk of our car.
"you can keep the wheel chair until your steady enough too." the doctor called out to us as we walked out.
my mum and dad gave laurel, tom and rosie a lift home too. we didnt talk much, i think in the process of driving home i fell asleep.

as soon as i got home home i crawled into my bed and fell asleep straight away, what a long day..

chapter four - the marking (not a song name =[ i couldnt find a suitable one) will be out tomorrow!
